Little Love Poem by Geoffrey Fafard

Little Love

Rating: 5.0

You know BIG love is boring
And LARGELY overrated
Irrational and irritating

Its the little love I love
When that someone
has done something
That you find out about
Two weeks after
That delights and
Pleases you so silently.

The sudden kiss from your
Old dog just for being there
Caring for eleven years

A phone message
Out of the deep blue
'Hey are you ok? '

Remembering a Mum
And how she smiled
at you ten years ago
Before she went

Sitting on a river bank
At sunset with a mate
Who has come a long way
To reminisce simply about
Doing just this, way back
With you

The joy of watching
Children watching you
Then shyly smiling from
Somewhere down near
Their little feet

You know the last words
She ever spoke to me…?
'Will you cook me breakfast
tomorrow morning? '
little love saved me..
I said 'Of course I will.'

little love happens more
Than I realise because
Lately, getting older
And needing it
I have taken the time
To stop and think

Its because of this love
I have been able
To get a bit older.

Absolutely wonderful, Geoffrey. I can relate with everything in this poem (even the getting older part)
