Look Forward Poem by Kewayne Wadley

Look Forward

She used to be my favorite movie,
No matter how long I'd watch.
No matter how much time passed,
She was still relevant.
Although things change, this would
Certainly be one thing that wouldn't.
All the small details that boosted her
To be ahead of her time,
Easily relatable.
She asked all the right questions,
Appearing in the theater in my head.
She was my comfort zone,
Realistic & straight forward.
Most times I was the only one who
Purchased a ticket.
She held me & I held her,
Caught in a captivated moment
That repeats every time I watched her.
She used to be my favorite movie,
At first I didn't understand until I watched
Then re-watched, then re-watched.
Gaining understanding of her decisions.
Her thought world, & I agreed.
Noticing something new every time I saw her,
Without constant need to rewind
Finding patience by the end of the credits.
To those that didn't understand would say
That she is terrible.
She used to be my favorite movie,
Until I realized that she saw me in the same light.
Without need for validation,
My nostalgia, my ache, my bringer of memories.
My someone to look forward to
