Lost Within My Stranger Poem by Nell Sheridan

Lost Within My Stranger

Rating: 5.0

This kiss, the simplest of affections, made my world dissolve, only you remained in the
longest moment,

Every kiss dissolves what
is left of my world, you
are the only true
remaining constant,

Your touch, like fire
breathing across my skin,
fuelling my desire for
intimacies,

Your thoughts complex in
nature, still waters run
deep, with surprising
intricacies,

Attentive in ways, far
beyond the boundaries of
my imagination,

Adeptly you read my
discomfort, like an
astronomer reads the
constellations,

Occupied with everyone
else's comfort, last of
all you place your needs,

Just another day to you,
you never notice your
endless, selfless deeds,

I watched you sleeping
this very night, moonlight dancing across your skin,

Wide-eyed, all that I
think and feel, somehow
remains safely within,

Your breathe is slow and
calm within the
enveloping darkness,

As I rest alongside, I
contemplate the reality
and almost eerie likeness,

I met a stranger long
ago, who in my presence,
always wanted to exit
left,

I met a stranger long
ago, who's absence causes
me to feel almost bereft,

I met a stranger long
ago, somehow I'm
eternally lost, within
his eyes,

I met a stranger long
ago, each and every
second, perpetually
magnifies,

My stranger is
insignificant to you,
overlooked, disregarded,

My stranger is
significant to me,
these emotions so
effortlessly prompted,

My stranger you ask?
Quizzical your
expression, laughter in
your gaze,

I know so little of this
man, guarded his
emotions, his responses
he delays,

Shrouded in privacy, this
wall I stand against,
immovable by definition,

My inquisitive nature,
finds no favour here,
often left in a state of
contrition,

I accept who you are,
your choices, your
carefully placed
defences,

I shall share this
moment, as it is, holding
tightly these pretences,

I will not ask of you,
that you do not wish to
share, I will lay beside
my stranger,

I will not ask of you,
more than you wish to
give, I will sleep beside
my stranger,

Remaining lost, within
his eyes, no place left
to go, I will hold my
stranger,

I will not seek to know
you, more than I do in
this moment, I will love
my stranger....
