Unconditional Poem by Nell Sheridan

Unconditional

Rating: 5.0

On a dark cold night, while the rest of the world, was peacefully sleeping,
A solitary young woman, a precious newborn, their lives were entwining,
Those baby blue eyes, that midnighthair, as he lay resting upon her chest,
The softest skin, with little baby wrinkles, who would have guessed? ,
She holds hope, within her mother's gaze, love within her heart,
There are so many emotions, perhaps too many, for her to impart,
A loving stare, a tender cuddle, speaks the universal parental language,
His little smile, flashing baby blues, will manage to endlessly hold her captive,
Little Christopher, the travellers protector, a patron saint so anointed,
Freedom in his heart, generosity of soul, he was so lovinglymoulded,
Always together, growing side by side, a bond forged within love alone,
Always together, watching intently, each and every milestone,
Together they grow, together they play, times so well spent,
Playing catch, or hide and seek, each experience so utterly relevant,
They have encountered, blood and sweat, even transient tears,
They have outlasted, the tests of time, standing fast all these years.
Forever and always, two loving souls, walking hand in hand,
Despite their difference, love has taught them, how to understand,
From a newborn baby, to abustling boy, then finallythe man,
A man of honour, righteousness and truth, she's his biggest fan,
They sit together, words are not required, speaking in silence,
People fail to see, the genuine feelings, the undeniable brilliance,
His eyes averted, she cares not, that is just his way,
There is no need, for him to change, not tomorrow or today,
Perfect within her eyes, he remains, her greatest achievement,
All the world and then some, ignorant within, their judgement,
To be the man, he alone chooses, happy and content,
To be the best, version of himself, the biggest compliment,
Her one true aspiration, that he finds, happiness within a sordid society,
Moments of joy, sharing and loving, somewhere in the anarchy,
They play chess, in silence, his favourite game ever,
It does not matter, who beats who, they just play together,
He recalls, her favourite songs, and made her a compilation,
He seeks her favourite, things time and again, so lovingly chosen,
They laugh loudly, the latest funny movie, at theleading caption,
Much has changed, throughout the years, they have achieved balance,
Despite the world, ignorant people, and all of their hindrance,
So proud of this man, his life choices, and unequivocal moral,
However to seek perfection, requires him, to master scrabble. (Kidding)
A mothers love, so complete, albeit so traditional,
A parental bond, so complete, entirely unconditional.
For Christopher love Mum.
