Love Poem by DEEPAK KUMAR PATTANAYAK

Love

At the sight of an image of goddess, I was smiling;
When I was born and barely a year old,
There I felt mother's love, pure and mines of Gold

At the sight of a stick, I was crying, frightened and almost dead,
When I was growing and barely a decade old,
There I felt teacher's love, rare, gifted, and bold

At the sight of a blooming flower, romantic I was feeling,
When I was grown up and well past a couple of decades,
There I felt lover's love, warm, soft, sweet and kind

At the sight of an honourable woman, of a sweet world I was dreaming,
When I was a grown man and understanding the ways of the world,
There I felt wife's love, steadfast, enduring and gift of God

At the sight of divine little souls, I was praying to Almighty,
When I was a responsible man and understanding the meaning of tender love,
There I felt children's love, sacred, scarce and a joy for ever

At the sight of a Fakir, I was just weeping and weeping,
When I was getting older and yearning for the love of God,
There I found God's love, pure and mines of Gold,
Rare, gifted and bold,
Warm, soft, sweet and kind,
Steadfast, enduring and gift of God,
Sacred, scarce and a joy for ever,
Because I love Him and He loves me,
And the stream of love goes on for ever.
