On a heavily smudged and slow fading image
Of a grey moth eaten college magazine page
She still stands so frozen in time
The one I once wanted to be mine
Ages ago in the green of my youth
Was it love or something more
I will never ever perhaps know
But, t’was something in those eyes
Those tender glass bangled hands
And those tender shifty stares
Across benches in hot and humid classrooms
That often seemed to softly beckon
That often seemed to softly whisper
Things that I’ll never ever know
Never ever, ever never, never ever
Sitting decades far....so far away
On an armchair of turbulent memories
In the slight caressing evening breeze
In the dying light of just a another day.............
From a moth eaten magazine And a faded, smudged photo Memories cascade out And a pair of eyes follow Yea, those sweet college days are gone, but some faces stick out! ! Very nostalgic! !
Love never melts my friend- You have captured that reality in your poem. Well done.
nostalgic yet nicely written... good job! Thanks for sharing it.
Beautiful poem on memories of decades ago. Loved reading it.
A wonderfully wistful story'on an armchair of memories' beautiful economy of words
