Love Is A Thing
You love the Rose
And want to get;
But it has thorns,
Do not forget.
You love the Sea,
Blue, deep and dark-
What a beauty!
But it has sharks.
You love forests,
Abode of birds;
It has deer and
Also leopards.
Love is a thing-
Divine we say;
Without hindrance,
It cannot stay.

ভালবাসা একটি বিষয় তুমি গোলাপ ভালোবাসো আর তাকে পাবার আশার রাখো; তবে এতেও রয়েছে কাঁটা, ভুলে যেয়ো না | তুমি সমুদ্র ভালবাসো, যা নীল, গভীর আর অন্ধকারময়- কতই না মনোহর! তবে এতেও আছে হাঙর | তুমি অরণ্য ভালবাসো, যা পাখিদের নীড়, এতে আছে হরিণ যেমন আছে চিতাবাঘও | ভালবাসা একটি বিষয়- স্বর্গীয় বলি যাকে; অন্তরায় ছাড়া সে তো, টিকতে নাহি পারে | বঙ্গানুবাদ করেছেন- মাসুমা আখতার রুমা
