When she smiled he knew, the certainty was liberating
She totally caught him off guard, no doubt, no debating
Cupid's mark was laid upon his love starved heart
He knew this love was real, right from the very start
In the past it had always been a matter of this and that
Questions and worries and the usual hung jury
No more like a confused dog in love with a finicky cat
At last he could rest his soul, no rush, no clocks, no hurry
So many times before he had forced the puzzle together
Always making lemonade in any kind of weather
Saying goodnight he realized he wanted her and nothing more
And she found it equally wonderful on the other side of the door
I love this line: 'No more like a confused dog in love with a finicky cat' I missed this little gem of a poem. Nicely expressed Edmund.
I love it when a poem makes my heart smile. I think I even heard it giggling. Can you imagine the number of heart breaks we could avoid if these scientists could only resolve the question of who and when love will strike? Yet... maybe heartache is how people learn... I have found a 2 by 4 applied liberally to my head gets my attention. Thank you for posting this- -it was a very good read!
Edmund, Now that is truly romantic in the best sense of the word. If her heart is not free, speaking as a woman, you will by this action, mend many an ouchie that may have been left behind that put shadows in her heart and that is perhaps the greatest gift a human can give to another. May your birthday gift bring her [and you] happiness of whichever kind is best.
Thank you Susan, I am sending roses to someone from twenty years ago. Timing was everything and I was too immature then. She likely has a man in her life now but the way I figure it is if he knows her at all he should understand exactly why I can't help but say hello with flowers on her birthday!
Oh such a romantic tale. I smiled all the way through this poem. Love is so hard to come by, but at last he could rest his soul, no rush, no clocks, no hurry. A delightfully put together work of art. Love it. Brilliant 10
It is a lovely poem! Nowadays it's easier to meet strained and stressful relationship, than to find a couple like this one. Thank you for sharing!
Thank you Galina, well it is a simple enough poem. Intentionally written this way. Timing, maturity and luck are just a few of the things that work against a person being fortunate enough to meet someone that you can instantly know is the one for you but when you do you will know. Something all of the scientists and all the philosophers will never be able to explain. The spark and not the flame.

I would like to translate this poem
This poem captures the love's beauty so well. Love is life's best offering to mankind. The happiness love brings is unmatched. Lovely poem.
