Lovesong Of A Sunflower Poem by Nidhi Agrawal

Lovesong Of A Sunflower

Rating: 5.0

Slowly and silently,
Reluctantly at first, eagerly at last
You open your sleepy eyes
And unfurl your dreamy petals.
You can't resist for long
the lovely pink of dawn
The first rays of sunshine
You bloom in its warm light.
As the morning turns to day
you follow the sun in its wake
Ignoring the bees and butterflies
Trying to stake their claim.
Like a lover in the throes of passion,
the only one worthy of love
You find yourself jealous
that other flowers in the meadow
also await their turn.
And when finally the sun goes down
You take off your majestic golden crown

And kiss a wistful goodbye to the night
Hoping that morning will again unite.

Thank you Laurie. I've tried to portray it's relation with sun, (instead of its beauty) , which is the hallmark of sunflower.
