Macho Stances Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

Macho Stances

Macho stances.
Taken by those,
Protesting to preserve...
Their entitlements rights.
In the midst of a pandemic.
Not only threatening,
But has already infected...
Millions of lives Worldwide.

And the only thing on their minds,
Is a way of life...
That has spoiled them,
Into a thoughtless...
Self serving selfishness.
Done to careless.
Shown with no one left to guess,
As to why there is permitted...
Conflict, confusion and racists activities,
Existing within a 'civilized' society.
Claiming to reflect all that is great.
Yet that 'reflection'...
Those taking their macho stances,
During these times defending their rights...
In defiance against a virus threatening death.
The odds of pretensions,
To imitate Zeus, Atlas or sword waving Vikings...
May make good TV.

However...
Images to depict historic myths to wish them,
Does not make reality to live it...
Escapism to delude,
The effects that truth produces.
Yet...
Always there will be some with their guns.
Demanding to live life,
To believe it is their birthright to display...
Themselves to be heros.
And at their own detriment as if children,
Showing themselves...
To be the first ones to run,
When that 'enemy' appears to prove...
Taking care of business is on its menu.
With no game to be played or tolerate!
