your poems dealing with history are so well researched that it's enough to read them to know of these details you scrupulously present...
Machu Picchu is a UNESCO World Heritage site. As Peru's most visited tourist attraction and major revenue generator, it is continually threatened by economic and commercial forces. The outside world only learned of its existence in 1911 By Hiram Bingham, an American historian. Following in the footsteps of Christopher Columbus, Hiram was actually looking for something else when he found it. A very good write here. Enjoyed the read.
Brings back some memories of Mel Gibson's 'Apocalypto' too! ! Well, Rajda, you've been very busy lately, and done commendable research on ancient Machu Pichu, bringing up very vivid imagery to the forefront... Just a thougt here - what if the students of History at school learnt their history in a poetical format just like the one you've just done? [Non-fiction]. I hope it happens, starting with your 'historical' poetry..(Some minor corrections: In the 3rd canto, the word should be 'prying' instead of 'praying', and in the 5th canto the word should be 'tons' or 'tonnes' instead of 'tones') . Keep writing Rajda! ! Cheers. Subroto
Enchanting history. I read that Sun God was worshipped in many parts of West too before the advent of Christianity. This story proves it. (I read in Dan Brown's Da vin ci Code too) . Very interesting lore, very well narrated.
Wonderful writing Raj....this place has always held such an air of mystery hasn't it...10+++
