Made With Love Poem by Kewayne Wadley

Made With Love

I was hungry,
and what better thing to make
a sandwich.
now that I figured out what I was going to eat.
I needed to figure out what I wanted on my sandwich.
I wanted something hearty, something meaty.
between the slices of bread.
I grabbed a knife and layered it with bacon and lettuce
before I pressed it tight, I noticed that something was missing.
something to hold it all together.
I remembered to grab the tomatoes,
but it was something else was missing.
something reminiscent of butter or cheese.
then my phone rung and it was you.
soon as you said hello, I remembered what it was.
something bold yet simple.
something that would make the sandwich get up
and throw itself in my mouth.
dancing all the way down to my stomach.
it was devotion.
