Man In The Street Poem by spiritual seeker

Man In The Street

Rating: 5.0

A man sitting under the shadow of an old banyan tree,
Selling a pan of fruits on a quiet garden street,
Simple straight life content in his look,
For what in the day earning, will possibly serve his family needs.

But in this world of greed and lust,
Many times honour easily thrown to the dust,
Where politicians steal and bureaucrats loot,
Piling and hoarding their ill-gotten wealth,
Shame not and fear them not death will come to look.

Beware O man! Greed and corruption is cancer to society,
It poisoned the body and darkened the soul,
As food for a simple man shared is enough for two,
But greed of a single man will not satisfy him the world twice.

Thus O man! Be grateful and try to live a simple straight life,
Like I saw in the face of this simple soul,
Cause, true happiness is not counted just in rubies and gold,
but golden deeds that break forth from your pure touching soul.
