Megan's Hill Poem by Patricia Gale

Megan's Hill

Rating: 5.0

About midnight I began to ponder
Then at half past I felt the feeling grow stronger
Twas a night like ner’ before
The eve that sent shivers to your core

Soft white gossamer before my eyes
Hearing faint yet softly the sound of cries
I lunged to my feet
Knocking over my seat

The dog running behind the couch
The cat hissing and in her striking crouch
Golden hair flowed from her head
Obviously to the fact, she was dead

Look for me if you will
The piece of me that lingers there upon the hill
A small piece that was never found
I stood in silence not making a sound

The crashing sound of the breaking glass
I know I was going way to fast
But there upon the hill my trinket to confirm I still am here
Given to me by my cousin, the one I held so dear

Please you must was her cry
I said I can only try
So search I did
Never finding, for it must be hid

Amongst the tall grass beside that hill
So ever night when the moon rises full and you hear the sound of the whippoorwill
She cries and walks all dressed in white
And tries to find the piece of her she lost that night
