Melting Of Morals. Poem by siddharth singh.

Melting Of Morals.

Rating: 5.0

Such are the ways of heart
It keeps a lot hidden
yet yearns for the forbidden.

Both of us were married n committed,
but were still attracted.
Although after a few steps
we had always retracted.

Tried hard to stay blind,
to get each other out of our mind.
But always struggled to keep the
thoughts behind.

One day fate brought our dreams alive.
It was raining,
when she came into my sight.
Trying hard for a taxi, with all her might.
I offered her help, took her home.
Kept telling her, let the rain subside.

At home I lit the fireplace,
saw the reflections of the flame
dancing in the raindrops dripping
down her sultry frame.

She stood there motionless, soaking wet.
It was truly a rivetting sight, my eyes met.

I gave up the reluctance
and pulled her near.
The heat we felt was enough,
for our morals to tear.
We had for long
silently shared such dreams.
Here we were
falling apart at the seams.

I lifted her in my arms, kissed her
and took her near the fire,
layed her down
and gazed at the marvel.
She closed her eyes
and shivered in shame.
When i entered her
she was trembling with pain,
She tightened her grip around me
and cried a loud moan.
Tears rolled down her eyes
as we made love
being watched, by the stars above.

Then we lay exhausted
besides each other
thinking, this was a feeling
we needed to smother.

Both of us lay quiet,
didn't utter a word.
After what had happened just,
kept staring at our morals
that lay scattered, gathering the dust.

‘…It keeps a lot hidden/yet yearns for the forbidden….’ What is open and forbidden is enigmatic…forbidden becomes open to them who participated …so it becomes open to 2 subjects…not forbidden any more…there is nothing absolute forbidden…but absolute open exists …as our secret thoughts are open to us…is it forbidden? Finally you’ve concluded: ‘…kept staring at our morals/that lay scattered, gathering the dust.’ I’d say ‘golden-dust’ or ‘diamond-dust’…2 souls wanted pure warmth it’s the morale… Excellent diction dear brother… 10+ Ms. Nivedita UK PS today's Forbiddeness is tomorrows Openness e.g Live together &c n

intensely emotional. brings the reader to a sudden climax; then makes an attempt at post mortem...leaving the reader to answer the 'why', knowing it is the ' I '. simple and poignant write. Thanx for sharing. Leonard
