Merely Sailing Poem by Kewayne Wadley

Merely Sailing

Amongst the clouds,
Am alone with the thought of you,
Here, sitting afloat,
Merely sailing,
I turned to a nearby cloud and asked for a pen,
I stared into a cloud that stretched for miles, as it searched about,
Sadly it shrugged,
I then asked if it would hold still,
So then I could trace your face as perfectly as I could,
It moved,
Slowly in each direction,
In a strange sense,
I couldn't help but laugh to myself,
As something so perfect couldn't begin to be duplicated,
The cloud then looked at me and asked what was I doing there,
Looking around I replied,
Learning to breathe,
The cloud looked at me with an underlining look,
Waiting for deeper explanation,
Again I spoke,
Learning to breathe,
For what was once real wasn't real and what wasn't real became real,
In a deeper definition of what I once knew,
Without emotion to show, the cloud just sat,
I then asked,
If I were to start dancing right now, would you understand the reason I grabbed your hand,
Alone in an inverted sea,
We stood,
In part,
The cloud only knew to cry, though surrounded in an abundance of air,
The depth to be free, without truly knowing how,
In turn,
I grabbed the cloud,
As every step felt familiar,
A perception of space,
As in time,
My friend could finally catch its breath,
Finding itself and more,
Amongst the clouds,
Where the thought of you never left
