Mighty America Poem by Chandrashekar a posy poet

Mighty America

What a pity
You possess WMD
(Weapons of Mass Destruction)
And warn the rest
To abandon

What a distress
You wish to be most
Loved and Admired
Instead you become
Most Hatred

What a contradiction
You create Terrorism
And now struggle to
End the game

What a mess
You fathered Capitalism
And soon you become
Its very victim

What a joke
You claim to be harbinger of
Democracy and Freedom
Yet, you support
the Dictators

What a shame
You sworn to protect
Human Rights and be
Quick to over-rule

What a paradox
You pledge to eradicate
Poverty and still silent
On Congo, Liberia,
Solomon and Somalia

What a disgrace
You vow to fight for liberty
Yet, you are mum on
Tibet and Burma

What a dilemma
You make huge ruckus
On Global Warming
Yet, you do the least
To arrest the same

What an embarrassment
You swear to fight for social justice
Yet, you bestow incessant punishment to
Cuba and Latin America

What a tragedy
You create Globalization,
Liberlization and Privatization
For progress and prosperity
And cause immense unrest
Among the poorest

What a disappointment
You affirm to be richest and happiest
Yet, you suffer from
Deep insecurity and discontent

Kudos to you!
Still you dream to conquer,
Control, coerce and conceal
The most helpless and vulnerable
With force and weapons
And wish to win the world

Complement your courage!
You still behave like Big Brother
And expect every punk to
Blindly follow and believe you
Sans suspicions and questions

Yes,
My friend!
Even, we wish to conquer!
Through Compassion, Care,
Non-violence, Friendship and
Unconditional Love
And dream to see the world prosper
With peace, harmony and cherish
Unity in diversity

Salute with salutation
And plead you
To join the cause
To protect planet
And save humanity

A clarification on my poem Mighty America!

Though I agree to the fact that, America has excellent internal policies for its citizens but, when it comes to its foreign policies they sound otherwise. Similarly, I also agree to the point that, every country has its share of pros and cons with regard to their foreign policies and more so about their internal policies that reflect their true moral values and commitment to their fellow country citizens and their neighboring countries by and large. But, unfortunately not many....indeed none are in a position as that of America. That is the thread I was holding on to here. It's America and only America, which has according my strong feeling, which has immense potential to make huge difference for survival of humanity in peace and harmony and protection of planet as well. Only if it shows and alters its approach on foreign policies, which shall be more inclusive and holistic and are capable of establishing in due course of time their genuine concern and regards for humanity, climate more by its deeds than mere words.

I further wish to emphasize on the fact that the amount of resources being allocated and spent on procuring strengthening Defence Force and Defence Equipments such as fighter flights, rockets and weapons of mass destruction (WMD) year on year by every country irrespective of their size is by any means and sense is huge, indeed immense which ranges from 5 - 50% of their Annual Budget/GDP. If by giving a chance to our good sense, by abandoning all this thrash at one go and the same is diverted and spent on eradication of poverty, improving health, sanitation, education and there by improve quality of living for humans across the world. A world, which is free from force, diseases and aggression and in place filled with peace, love and harmony.

They are countries like America and India, which can come together and take lead to create nuclear free world by being first to do away with Nuclear Bombs and be role models to the rest of world.

It is this, which has been stirring and haunting for quite sometime a helpless lad like me and thus, the birth of a poem like Mighty America!

There are some good points, but it sounds more like a political rant than a poem. You did manage to secure my attention, however, which is more than I can say about a lot of 'poems' on the site. Well done, sir.

'...we wish to conquer! Through Compassion, Care, Non-violence, Friendship and Unconditional Love And dream to see the world prosper With peace, harmony and cherish Unity in diversity'... That's great Chandra...these lines...you tell the whole world there explicitly what this country stands for...no rules apply to this big brother! 10
