Moments Poem by Mallika Achuthan Menon

Moments

Rating: 5.0

Just a single thought of you
opened the flood gate of memories,
and gushed out golden memoirs,
the lone moments of you and me!
When you were searching fortunes in
the depth of my eyes and told me that:
'I wish I could melt in azure shade
of these wide and shiny dampened eyes.
The lovely blue shade of your eyes
The sky might have borrowed from you'.
That very statement made me blush
and I bloomed with a smile at that second.

When you were lying on my lap
And playing with locks of my hair
Through the layer of thinning fog
The night peeped and grinned at us.
You asked the night one question,
All around the sky and earth
had he seen a pretty one
like his beloved that was me!
The night said, 'Upon the stars, my tiny tots
I have failed to find some one
in that ilk anywhere in life'!
I heard the praise and tried a lot
to overcome my innate shyness.

The bubbling waves of restless sea
Ceaselessly bounced up and down
Surf had rolled and came forward
to fondle moon touched glistening sand.
While they were tickling both of our feet
You put forth one query to sea:
'Is there anything in this universe
as sweet as my lover's smile?
The ocean quipped up abruptly:
'I swear by rough and booming waves,
such gleaming grin I haven't seen,
any where in this world so far.
I beamed with glee and kept silent
but my gaze alone spoke volumes.

The smiling full moon embraced us
with innumerable silver rays.
You held me in your arms and
whispered softly 'you are mine'.
In that very moment the racing time halted
and I felt that there existed we two only.
Neither I wanted to hear something anew
Nor I needed to speak anything further.
I myself enjoyed the warmth of your hug
And both of us plunged into the pool of serenity.
The one and only comely moon
witnessed that scene sneakingly.
You teased the moon in this way:
'I agree with all, you are a beauty
But not at all spotless like my own angel'.
His dictum somehow made her sad
Then and there she vanished in clouds.

The wind was swinging back and forth
in branches of trees and entangling creepers.
It started humming in different pitches
as one of a notable famous singers.
When it touched the bamboo reeds
wonderful song got materialised and
you felt it like chiming of bangles of mine
which without fail jingled where ever I moved.

'An ocean wave in motion or
is that your gait I wonder! '
This he mumbled in my ear,
when we danced cheek to cheek.
Gracefully both your arms lifted me up
My elevated emotions came up with me too,
then all of them flew out as a laughter of mine.
Past, present and future all three
Stood there silently for a while dear...
Infront of your unconditional love
The me in myself surrendered blindly.
Thus I made a reciprocation
from my side for it aptly!

Time was almost midnight and
I put a stop to the chain of my thoughts.
When slowly slipping into sleep
to my surprise there you were,
in my wonderful dream again!

This poem has brought out your inner feeling very well, your expression of the same is remarkable. I totally agree with Raymond Farell's last line in his comment.

nice caricaturisation. A teenager's dream. But life is harder in black & white. Still, poetic. Best wishes. Global Poet dr.k.g.balakrishnan kandangath

am speechless - excellent write describing the love that blooms in the two - simply incomparable - every line I read I was getting shivers running down my spine out of pleasure - how lucky the two are to be in deep love - May the love always remain.

Mallika - it's a lovely love poem with sheer joy and honesty. An intense love was observed between two who were basking in their ocean of love with closeness in their body and mind. Thanks for sharing.
