Moping On The Bay Poem by Belle Wassermeister

Moping On The Bay

Rating: 5.0

I'm sitting on the pier
just wishing you were here.
I have a broken heart;
why did we have to part?

The sun is going down,
and so am I.
Down, down, down
into the deepest depression.

I know it's all my fault;
our love came to a halt
the day you drove away
but I felt I should stay.

Why didn't I go with you?
I can see now
what a terrible mistake I made.
I could have found a new job

in that big city where you went,
and now my days are spent
dreaming in blacks and whites
and crying through the nights.

A very nice poem, Missie! Unusual rhyme pattern: three stanzas of couplets and two of free verse! I am putting this on my favorites list!
