My Day 10.5 Poem by Thomas Plotz

My Day 10.5

My day, is done for another year
Full of Birthday celebration
Cheer for me, because I'm vertical
Memory, that's something different
Seems my family came a day early, and
With my blood sugar too Low, and blood pressure too High
I was faint, confused, and vision blurred
Fuzzy, hazy and imprecise, on families names and faces

As I strolled the grand hallway promenade,
Spotting a nephew asking what I need and I do need,
Then relatives standing there, another niece, a son, and brother
Turning I spun and they weren't there any more
They came all this way for a moment with the sun then,
Even a girl with streaks of blue in her hair TA did stay long,
Before climbing in that pick-up truck, waiting near by
Everyone fled before my eyes, gained focus

I sat and ate a candy bar,
Drinking G2 grape
Felt better for it
Found a number but haven't called it - yet
Do I deserve your love? Saw too late

Even today on the sixth, my niece said
Sorry I got to go,
I'm way too busy -

Thank you, for coming
I love you all,
I'm sorry I couldn't see
Please remember
What happened to me - I do love you all
