My Eros Poem by shelly kiran

My Eros

Rating: 5.0

Everyone told me I ambarren,
Non fertile land,
No one had the courage to hug me, to shake my hand,
Where even the grass could not grow they told,
As Sahara I am hot to have life, as Tundra i am cold.
Non confident i was, even ashamed of myself,
You the " Eros " came to my life, called me "elf"
The magic of love turned a coward into person so bold,
, Oasis in me was visible to your hands those know to hold.

Hi Shelly, Welcome to Poemhunter. Congratulations for the wonderful poem. The poem invokes some serious thoughts about the status of women in the Indian Society. Barren is a word which should not be used to define a woman. The usage is totally and blatantly male chauvinistic. So it is to be detested. My request to all poets is that we should stay away from such things. Coming back to the poem. A wonderful, emotionally charged narrative. Qualify for a 100. To my poem list.

Brave utterances set aside for sober reflection. An insightful rendition embellished in poetic rhyme and rhythm. Thanks for sharing Shelly.

In our society, this subject has always remained a taboo. The poem is hot enough to melt even a stone-heart. Great work, Kiran.
