In a wisp of the wind
He whispered in my ear
“Push up your chin
There’s nothing more to fear
Your friends are all gone
Left you betrayed!
If you hadn’t sworn
They might have stayed
But fling them all out
Your pains, I shall heal
There’s no one to shout
So your heart I shall steal”
My friends are long gone
They just didn’t stay
The curtains are drawn
And it’s all ‘round gray
Alcohol: my friend
Someday, I might change
But t’night, alcohol;
You’re my only friend.
