American Women
Serving in Combat Roles
Subject to the Draft?
Equal Rights
Equal Pay
You, young lady
Demand it
Go,
'Death is waiting'
Just,
More fresh meat
For, 'The Dogs of War'
a sobering poem and Poet's Notes. i'd agree that there are serious drawbacks to women in the military in combat positions. of course, many women have served in the military and supportive services for years. and when men have been called up to serve in a war [at least in the last century i believe], women have been called to fill many of the jobs at home left vacant. well, how would it be to conduct a war and broadcast that one's own military is killing 'innocents'? ? ? 'collateral damage' works for me. i was a civilian conscientious objector (to war) [a Selective Service classification i had to apply for and give supporting evidence for]. in the early 1970s i worked stateside in a civilian hospital, subject to the draft if i quit before the two years of service ended. i stayed an extra 2 months i believe. i may well have gone into the military in WW2. i think it was much more difficult to get a CO status then anyway! to MyPoemList, on general (or is it 'the general's?) principles. bri ;)
Sad that anyone has to die, women or men. Why can't we all just get along?

Kim, below, asks a valid, though some might say ridiculous, question. i blame it on God [not that i believe in Her anymore! ]. i think She planned Mankind VERY POORLY! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! OR was the Devil actually more powerful than God? ? ? i don't, btw, believe in the Devil anymore either. i'm an equal opportunity disbeliever. yeah, yeah, i know, ..............i'm doomed. bri :)
