My Words - Poem by Spirit Litter

now i am afraid
afraid of all of what i may say
nothing i say every comes out right
it always seems to set off a fight
the words i use are simple and trite
they give many meanings
which start the misunderstandings
most often it leads me in a state of confusion
cause as far as i was thinking we were only talking
than all of a sudden you starting to trip over my words
and add in bad meanings
now i am afraid
afraid of all of what i may say
i am afraid of my words being all wrong
and causing us to be gone

fear of being misunderstood has been very beautifuully captured in your poem.i know how many times i have been baffled when someone got upset over a simple remark. effective communication is an art as much as listening. (Report) Reply

Language is a tricky thing. It is so complicated,
that one has to wonder we communicate as well
    as we do.
