Like the haves who have.
The ones who may,
Just may not.
With every wish they've got.
Wanting it to get but stopped.
Their climb to rise to the top.
By hints and clues to use name dropping.
But not to earn or yearn,
For one lesson to learn.
Or where and how,
To place steps to take.
But socially they pour on the tea.
And show up they do.
Name droppers.
Social hoppers.
To get and play the role they choose.
But not know what's up.
Or what it takes to leave behind,
An attitude that can stink at times.
To lead requires common sense.
Beyond the social charading of pretense.
Abilities would be nice.
If one who name drops,
Could prove they had some.
Instead of intense intentions.
Looking impressive with ease on the eyes.
But can not think.
Or with others be in sync.
One eye to wink,
Does little to nothing,
For one name dropping done to do.
That can sink to the brink of calamity.
Although,
They knew somebody.
Who knows the one whose name was dropped.
But that could not prevent,
Putting someone in a role to play.
That looked the part.
And acted the part.
But could not in reality,
Perform with competence.
Yet dressed to impress.
And name drop that creates a mess.
