Night Fright - Las Vegas Poem by Darwin Henry Beuning

Night Fright - Las Vegas

Rating: 5.0

The last place
You would think to die

In the night
And the Las Vegas sky

Outdoor concert
'Harvest Fest'
Thousands attend

Suddenly, raindrops of death
From the sky

Nowhere to run
Nowhere to hide

An evil act
A 'Harvest of Death'

On 30 September 2020 a U.S. Court approved a settlement totaling 800 million to more than 4,400 relatives and victims of the shooting. 58 people were killed and more than 850 injured.

That is a truly shocking thing to happen. Innocent victims of a deranged gunman. There have been too many of these shootings. Why not have tighter gun control? NZ is in a similar situation since the shootings in the Christchurch back in March. The killer is in jail, but not even tried yet. Too slow.

Michael, Thank you for the comments. Our government does not take the actions needed to stop it and in the meantime the killings go on.

This shooting was a brutal, tragic event, especially for the innocent victims. Much stricter gun control is needed in the U.S. I think. A poem of visual, brilliant imagery.

Just heard about this today. Didn't watch the news last night, but it seems that you always do. You really are the Poet of Current Events. Well done!
