Sometimes I wake with a glad smile.
At other times reluctantly
and long to linger for a while
right where I am so comfortably.
But duty calls and I must rise
I wash and shave habitually.
Then realise to my surprise,
I face the day quite happily,
I get on with my daily chores.
Whilst I still have the energy
I’m bound to flag in time of course.
Advancing age the enemy.
My body tells me I must rest
a quick nap will renew my zest.

You youngsters! You've no get up and go! Only joking ofcourse, Ivor. This poem shows you've got more energy than a 21 year old. A lovely read.... Love, Fran xxx
Like it! Like it! Like it! . Just how I feel in the morning, except for the shave I think. How cosy is a warm bed on these dark, dreary, wet and windy mornings. Trouble is laying in makes you more sluggish, and I have to let the dog out and give her some release. Great write as usual. Loved this one. Love and hugs Ernestine XXX
