One
I scan the list of
newly posted stuff
One time each day
I could savor many poems
but only need
One a day
Hundreds though stand in the way
Why is it
the inane and the insane
believe they have so darn much to say?
The same name
The same name
The same name
The one with no name
no name
again and again
and again
Doesn't impress me
to see
a blank space
instead of your name
when the poetic result is the same
You shot another blank
At least a blank accurately reflects
the value of the contents
A fine poet
knows that
it runs against
the odds of producing even
One
worthy poem a day
Do you really think you are that lucky?
Personally I find
that my own odds of success
are best
when I only read those
of the ones who only post
One
Unfortunately
Here the odds run against me
Though I live to read
I really only need
One a day
dear H.i! I couldn't agree more- wading through so much bog & swamp of words to reach something solid! I'm rather new here- have any names I should try? or other websites that have a reputation for good stuff? I really enjoy good poetry- when I can find it Craig S
Like I said, this is the only way I can get to you. Thanks for the info.
While a worthy observation made with good humour and intent, this piece of writing none-the-less joins the mass of pap which characterises this site. On the brighter side, many people agree with the sentiment and have commented, me included. Why, it elevates the reader above written tripe! Rgds, Ivan
It is nice for this site to have readers. Poets long to share the heart.
H.I! I agree a 100% with what you say, i just read the poet who writes (1) each day! Thad * 10 *! ! ! !
This poem has not been translated into any other language yet.
I would like to translate this poem
My creative writing mentor told me one day, 'Yep, you can write really well, but a good poem is produced only once in four tries.' Those odds have shifted this way and that, over the years...but, you can't produce good without that 'practice'! HOPE you'll find something worthy today! ! ! ! ! xxxElysabeth
