Czarina Matviyko

Ode - Poem by Czarina Matviyko

When spring unfolds and sap is in the bough
I trod along the sunlit path
to see what wonders I may find,
for every tree and blade of grass is a miracle to me.

I'll trod along the path alone
'till summer fills the rolling hills
and the woods are green and cool.
I'll sit and rest when fall arives
and watch it paint the leaves.

When winter frost begins to bite
and snowy wonder fills the land
I'll head on home
to hearth and fire
and leave the naked trees behind,
only to return once more
when the sparrows and the doves
once more begin to soar.
