OH THANK GOD! I'M STILL ALIVE!
I was so happy to open my eyes
I was so happy to be alive.
I was coming out of general anesthesia
After four hours of a major surgery.
Vaguely I saw the face of my wife
As she came closer to my bed side.
This perception was further verified
by her familiar voice and being kind.
I don't remember if she cried or she smiled
But for sure she was happy to see me alive.
She called me by my sweet name
But her voice sounded like coming from a dream.
She tried to wake me up
And to confirm to herself that I was alive.
Gradually I recognized her voice and her face.
She came close enough for me to hold her hands.
I was like a drowning man holding on to a float.
Then, it was my son Peter who greeted me.
He was like another hand to keep me afloat
So my mind was doubly confirmed: "I'm still alive".
I was so happy to be alive.
I was so happy to open my eyes
To see my son and my wife by my sides.
Oh thank God! I'm still alive!
