Old Hag Poem by Doom & Gloom

Old Hag

Rating: 3.4

In the dead of night while the peaceful sleep
In through my window demons creep
While all are lost in sleeps embrace
With nightmares I come face to face

The waves of fear wash calm away
Rational thought is led astray
This is the thing I fear the most
Haunted by this shadow ghost

This devil crawls across my floor
A shapeless form that I abhor
I see those eyes so deep and old
I feel the touch so dead and cold

With open eyes and muffled pleas
Besieged by evil no one sees
Paralysed with fear & dread
Alone and helpless in my bed

For some the night time offers dreams
For others only tortured screams
For sleep is just a slice of death
A taste before your final breath

Whew! That's some heavy stuff...and all too real... even in the daylight. See my 'CHAOS' for a similar perspective. Robert

D & G, Please let me ask the question ... Is it Doom and Gloom? , or Gloom and Doom ? , ... with that attitude? ... OR Harry Houdini? B.V.A.

A very good poem; imagery and language excellent. Hag-ridden indeed, but holds some magic for me. Regards.

This reminds me of my childhood. I would place myself in the very middle of my bed because I was sure there were 'something' that could get me if I hung over the edge. Thankfully, I outgrew it! Great poem. Marilyn
