Old Wes 10: Wes Is Obsessed (Rondeau)

Rating: 5.0

Wes is obsessed; is that a crime?
He posts this picture all the time.
The girl is pretty; that's for sure,
But I can't take it anymore!
She's much too young; I'm past my prime.

I know he thinks she's just sublime,
But stop this crazy pantomime,
Or Donna will show him the door!
Wes is obsessed.

He won't do free verse; won't do slime,
And all his poems have to rhyme,
But there are more forms to explore.
Give some a try; we won't keep score.
(Just try to sell them for a dime.)
Wes is obsessed.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
My friend Wes Vogler has posted this picture on at least three of his poems now, so I thought I would give him some good-natured ribbing about it. (If you are wondering about the name "Donna" in the poem, that is his lovely wife.)

I am having fun learning about writing a rondeau, and this is only the third one I have written.

Do you think you have never read a rondeau before? I'll bet you have. Check out the most famous one of all (probably) by reading "In Flanders Fields" by John McCrae.

The funny thing is that I have discovered she is very famous as a artist. I have a good eye. My wife catches me at this devious activity and I become shameful to the lowest degree. Hey I am an artist and need the anatomical inspiration

as did McCrae, you slipped two limericks into that rondeau

Doug, you are very observant. The rhyme pattern is indeed that of the limerick in those two cases, but the syllable count is wrong. You are to be commended in any case for noticing that. However, I DID slip a limerick into the last five lines of my poem 'All I Need is a Cape'.
