One Special Gift This Christmas Poem by Meggie Gultiano

One Special Gift This Christmas

Sounds of Christmas carols
from little boys and girls
singing with their heart’s delight
hopping from one house
to another

a Filipino tradition
caroling with the hope
of receiving a simple Christmas blessing
to buy food on Christmas eve

in a hospital bed
lays a four month old baby
with a hole in his heart
medicines and staff holding him in suspense

this little baby boy, if he grows up
could be one of those
doing the rounds in his village
singing Christmas carols on Christmas eve

but he is still waiting
fighting for his dear life
and needs prayers and a miracle
from the healing hands of Jesus

as I prepare and celebrate
the birthday of the Christ child
on my knees with my family
we will be praying for one special gift

for Carl Steven

A wonderful blend of the personal and the divine makes this fine poem particularly appropriate for this time of giving. Your little boy is indeed blessed to have you in his corner. I hope and pray that he is given the second chance he so obviously deserves. Thanks for sharing this. Love, Allie ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥
