My island of dreams,
With the most fertile and greenest of fields,
It's stunning appeal,
Vibrant, vivacious panorama,
Every town and village surprises with it's daily drama,
Of smiles and frowns,
Ireland has a mighty throne,
Crowned by it's rugged mountains and rolling hills,
Cliffs, ocean and beaches like beautiful frills,
Carving my life with thrills,
We walk hand in hand through forest trails,
My mind is frail,
I'm a victim of the past,
Littered with low self esteem,
This land was always my dream,
With plenty of inspired poets and traditional bands,
Flourishing with deep insight,
Like the tide drawing in and out from the shore,
Timeless beauty enhanced by the magic at peoples core,
To live with ease and softness oozing from their pores,
We create our own loving vista,
Inspired by our two souls in tune,
Joined in a love cocoon.
You have painted a beautiful picture of Ireland. All Irish I have met have been the nicest of people. And You Hazel are my favourite poet. Also I am so proud that my birthday is on St Patricks day.
Though I have never been to Ireland, I could catch a beautiful glimpse of it through your paean. An excellent poem interweaving nature and personal relationship.
Ireland is a very beautiful country, and you've portrayed this most eloquently in the above poem. Ireland has a long and chequered history, and is indeed a victim of the past. A lovely poem written by a proud and patriotic Irish lass. Well done Hazel.
Beautiful poem.... Yes, Ireland, is a land, rich in traditions, inspiring literature, games and its magic vistas of mountains and silver lakes and rivers! Your unambiguous love for your native land stands out in each line. Enjoyed!
