The clock rang at twelve'o clock at midnight
There came a bird's voice called demon call
which makes the signal of apparent death in vicinity
ku! Ku! it exclaimed in far away perched tree
The old women a home servant of us feared
The apparent death signal to whom it makes
Hours passed the bird made the sound from nearby
The old woman cried with fear and awoke from sleep
I told her don't worry it is only an owl
simply crying for its spouse or in some happiness
It is harmless and a poor bird perched in the tree
The torch light splashed and I showed her
Then only she convinced and still whispered
with a little tension in her mind.
There are still a lot of superstitions prevalent among people which have no logical basis.... People live in imaginary fears like your house maid! Poor thing! Good write!
Written with the simplicity that makes this poem relevant. Good use of narrative to draw the reader in. The poem highlights our perpetual fear of death and how we have traditionally viewed the owl as a bird that brings and dispenses death and morbidity. The poet seeks to break this nonsensical belief and myth and does through clear and crisp language use and a singular narrative stream that renders the reader satisfied. I enjoyed this one :)
