Pausing To Say Goodbye Poem by Theresa Ann Moore

Pausing To Say Goodbye

Rating: 5.0

With the passing of my children’s father
I wondered if indeed there was life after
Sad thoughts sought to find a familiar figure
Seeing only sympathy cards and a floral mixture

I am inclined to believe that the dead are able
To make their presence noticed via cable
Ok readers, I see raised eyebrows with stares
Think that I am quite daft and in need of care?

Oh, I am teasing a bit…but not completely…
Flashing without a remote, very discretely
The silent television turned on then disengaged
Not once, but twice in succession… as if staged

Could have explained it if there was a power outage
The overhead lights did not flicker or lose voltage
My son and I both witnessed the strange display
Was Dad playfully passing by… but could not stay?

Lovingly laid out and really interesting. A double whammy. But more to your point, I lost my dad a year ago. (A Scotsman) and every now and again i can smell whiskey, really really strong. The other one that the whole family has noticed at one time or another, is our pet dog. She died 2 years ago, but even now i feel her against my legs while I'm writing my poetry or generally on the computer. So if you think yourself a bit mad, you'd better make that a double appointment with the doctor and we will go together. Regards. Craig.

Nice thought and very well put. And who knows? I've always heard that one should pay close attention to their first instinct because it's usually right. Thanks for sharing
