Penalized Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

Penalized

Truth speaking people.
Above deceit.
And live their lives,
With their faith to keep.
But why...
Should they be the ones,
Penalized.
And disadvantaged.
Why...
Should they be the ones,
Penalized.
And disadvantaged.

Truth speaking people.
Live from day to day.
Respectfully to do this.
Done and not to stray.
But why...
Should they be the ones,
That are despised.
And disadvantaged.
Why...
Should they be the ones,
Criticized.
And disadvantaged.

Values...
To know them had are missing from the scene.
No longer visioned.
Or picked as a decision to make.
Values...
To know them as they were,
Have vaporized unrecognized.
Gone in thin air.

Truth speaking people.
Do not live on lies.
Or try to masquerade,
An honesty disguised.
But why...
Are deceivers not the ones,
Penalized.
For all the tales they tell.
And why...
Are deceivers who tell lies,
Rise high to heights.

Truth speaking people.
Are today disbelieved.
Truth speaking people.
Are the ones others leave,
Mistreated.
And the ones penalized,
For good deeds!
