I slipped a rubber band around your waist;
Red in affection.
I fell in love with the way
We clumsily bumped into each other.
Over & over
No matter how far we stretched it
I always found my way back to you
& you to me,
The color red shimmering off your skin.
Our feet scrambling across brown tapestry.
Not once did we think what would
Happen if the rubber overheats
Not once did we think our feet wouldn't
Rattle with joy
At the sound of silence
