Picking Grapefruits......[fruit; Neighbors; Human Nature; Short] Poem by Bri Edwards

Picking Grapefruits......[fruit; Neighbors; Human Nature; Short]

Rating: 5.0

I pick grapefruits from ground ‘neath Helen's tree.
Through her window she is gazing at me.

I have her permission to gather from the ground,
but, forewarned! ....., if I dared pick from her BRANCHES,
on my skull she would pound.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
helen is an elderly woman....that means a lot older than i am....who lives about four blocks from me. i don't think she would be violent. and besides i think i could outrun her. actually i could probably walk and she could not catch me if she tried to run. thanks helen, for the fruit and the inspiration. when will you let me pick the pears and pomegranates? ? p.s. i don't really know if she ever watches me.
