Place In The Sun - Poem by Jack Mehoff

holding you close
closing my eyes
as we both fall asleep intertwined,
the place where we meet
out beyond the stars
alone on the isle of our minds,
is where our hearts travel
in the peace of the night
because sleep has no sense of time
the hours and days of fun
in our place in the sun
fill our head like a song or a rhyme
seems we've lived a lifetime
on that island we share
far away from the shackles that bind
And when morning we wake
to a cruel twist of fate
not beside who we're hoping to find
