Please Forgive Me, God Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

Please Forgive Me, God

There will come that one day,
Some who had delayed,
Staying away to not waste more time...
Caring for the well being of others.
Who only returned disrespect.
With a use of a sledge hammer.
Done to do to end,
Another's peace of mind.
And the caring shown,
Sincerely given to them.

There will come that day,
For some and more to realize too!
Who will also begin to notice,
Their time to give to others...
Is repeatedly taken for granted.
With them to expect,
Not only disrespect.
But an abundance of neglect and abuse.

And...
When enough of this has been had,
Quickly...
An overdue decision is made.
Without a doubt to think it thought.
With a begging from God,
To confess and admit.
As tears begin to flow...
From their eyes.

"God?
There is no longer a need for You to prove.
What it is,
You came to whisper,
In my ears years ago...
What it was then,
I have finally realized...
Time I wasted I should have done,
The moment Your whispers grew into shouts.
And...
Please Forgive me, God.
For not listening to You.
When You first revealed to me.
That You had nothing to do,
With the creating of fools.
Now more than any time ever...
I am convinced,
They choose to be fools...
All by themselves!
And blaming this on You...
Has been my stupidity!
Please Forgive me, God."
