Poetry's a devoted enchanter, a magician,
A true alchemist and a gifted musician.
It can conjure up and forever mesmerise,
Make us all sad or happy with a surprise.

It can make the old feel very young,
Give the embittered a gentler tongue.
Or reveal new lovers with a passionate fire,
Even about people we respect and admire.

It can demonstrate love in many differing ways,
Can leave us all dumbstruck and totally amazed.
The highest mountain peaked with a tiny flower,
Just a few attractions of poetry's magic power.
