Poets And Alarm Clocks Poem by Aniruddha Pathak

Poets And Alarm Clocks

Rating: 5.0

When it failed to ring
I wondered why it didn't—
This alarm sweet that must sing,
But nowhere was there a hint.

Sooner still the clock volunteered:
You wound me too tight last night.
You see, we clocks too are weird
Like you, react if wound loose or tight.

Wait, what, you mean: ‘like you'?
You poets have no clue,
But if your readers wind you loose
You soar free like a loose kite
Till over-cooked gets your goose
That feels far too erudite.

My dear poets everywhere, The mod of this poem is 'Tongue-in-cheek' as indicated in the bottom-line. It is addressed to most of us, dear poets, including me. We do often tend to get highly wound to over-react.
