What is a sacrifice that does not cost you anything
Is it really giving something up when it's unimportant?

What I've learned is that sacrifices have a cost
It's only real when there's something lost
Faith courses through my veins when it's close to my heart
There's not a lot of space in my affections
If I want to invite more God into my life, I need to clear a part
Holy Spirit is supernatural, but I won't grow without corrections
I've found joy in giving up the most dear things
God didn't guilt me into it
I didn't just adjust so I could fit
I emptied my entire heart to make room for the King of Kings

It's not always permanent, but it's always a reminder
I don't mean to be so vague but He is kinder
Than me. What I mean to say is there are multitudes of sacrifices
They all operate the same
It hurts when it has a cost, consider and analyze
You'll see it's not about laying down fame
It's not how high the price
It's what it means to you and how much of your heart it occupies
Lift up the desires of your heart to the skies
And see what I mean taking a risk will suffice

When the Lord said, 'I will give you the desires of your heart'
I heard that He would provide for me what I wanted
Then I learned that God changes what we want as we want Him more
But now I see the full truth
God will literally fill my heart with desires
I always focused on actualization, but he was being literal
He actually gives us the heavenly desires that we have
After we surrender

With this in mind I am strong to lay down anything
With this in mind I can sing
In every circumstance, even in extreme lack
It's not what I have that I need
It's what I need that I have
Desires doesn't have to wrack
My heart, desires can fuel my heart and direct my path
It's more than being saved from wrath
I get desire
Can't you see it yet? You don't get WHAT you want think higher
You get WHAT you want
You don't get objects, you get longings for heavenly things

It's not what I have that I need, it's what I need that I have! Profound and illuminating poem, totally love it! Your message is explicitly clear and exacting. A very beautiful reminder of what's important in our lives. Thank you very much for sharing. RoseAnn
