Putting Up Barriers Poem by RoseAnn V. Shawiak

Putting Up Barriers

Walking into the courtyard, looking at all the cacti,
feeling a little exhilarated, knowing that they are
alive and breathing like life is supposed to be.

Needles sticking out, warning people to stay away,
just like when I am writing, putting a barrier between
myself and others, not wanting to be bothered.
