Pyramid Of Self Poem by RoseAnn V. Shawiak

Pyramid Of Self

Building from within, a pyramid of self.
Strong foundation, rising higher, empty still within.

Hiding treasures, gifts and talents from prying eyes.
Trap doors, secret doors, many defenses.

Whiling away many hours in intellectual bliss, not
really living life, just existing within this temple.

Pyramid, a symbol of life once lived, sits here
inside, a memorial to death.

Self-disclosure buried beneath tons of rock, looking
for a way to be exposed, to discover life anew.

No longer wanting to breathe the staleness of the
air lying for centuries, stagnating in the silent
tomb of hell.

Looking for respite, climbing quietly in the blackness
of sight, feeling the way.

Praying for some light to escape and show the way
to a better life.
