Queen Bee Poem by Dorothy (Alves) Holmes

Queen Bee

My man
Treats me fine.
I mean like cotton candy
Wrapped around a paper cone
Melting in sudden sweetness...
Like a marichino cherry waiting to
Dress up something special...
Like soft custard
Tickling someone's tongue...
I mean
My man
Treats me good...
Like an on-schedule airplane
That makes you smile...
Good!
Like Ray Charles singing 'Crying Time'
And you do...
But you smile while you do...
Good!
Like rain cooling a hot day...
Good like 'Amen' at the end of a prayer!

Now this is the kind of thing a man wants to hear. And its also the kind of thing a reader wants to read. Its long enough. If you know what I mean. GW62
