Quite A Fantastic Pair

Rating: 3.9
As I grow older...
The wisdom of my parents,
Has increased by leaps and bounds.
I find myself listening to them more now...
Than when they were alive!
And I...
Tried my best not to be too much around.
Young and criticizing...
Who they were and weren't then in my eyes.
And I find myself quite surprised,
To discover their brilliance.
And they were!
Quite a fantastic pair.
They had to be.
To not be crazed by such demanding children!
And as I look back upon those days...
We were not easy to raise.
They kept each of our minds active.
I only realize now...
They knew exactly what they were doing.
And what they were dealing with!
Making sure we were pursuing...
Our journeys,
On right and not wrong paths.

What a lovely tribute to your parents Lawrence, I think we tend to appreciate them when they are not around anymore. I lovely read and very well written and expressed. Love and hugs Ernestine XXX

So true, we dont realise what a blessing parents are, often until they are not around anymore. And then its too late for regrets. And like your marvellous poem says, we dont recognise how fantastic they are, until we become parents ourselves! So to love and cherish one's parents is a good ideal to have! Wonderful poem Lawrence. Cheers, Anita
