Rainy Daze - Poem by Erik Larson

Shafts of orange light
pierce the evergreens
the trees
cover the horizon
and play peek-a-boo
with the sunset
The sky burns in the West
every night (or does it?)
bare feet
on the green grass
the feeling
is pure
freedom (wind blows)
and Mommy shouts, 'COME INSIDE! '

'It looks like a thunderstorm! ! '

the lights dim
out side.....
and the weird glow of
twighlight moves
with the dark grey clouds
across the face o f
the yard of the house where
from the rooftops for fun

at 10 years old
he fell

he fell
he fell so far

Mommy said he's not

the same.

her cries fall on deaf ears
as the child
now 12.......... runs
laughing (just a joke :)
runs across the street
and down
to the park by the

darker every minute twighlight fading
Suddenly the rains come down
coat in October

so cold....
He starts to cry
see through the rain
as it falls down on him
waters encompassing

'help me! ' he screams,
starting to get scared
feeling suddenly

... (no one answers)

direction senses

(mommy says) lost (he's slow)

lightening strikes (children's voices echo)

(retard, retard)

Thunder rolls
and he curls up on
the ground (shaking)

screaming ('help me! ')

screaming ('help me! ! ! ! ')

'no one can see me
(please) dying' (please)

(just look into my eyes)

'see me! '

'know me! ! ! ! ! ! '

he screams terrified
for what seems like hours (20 long years)

still no one comes to the rescue

shaking cold and scared he just mouths the words

'help me help me help me help me'

shocked that
no one
no one

no one

can help him.

--he remembers---

The Name.

The Name to call (emergency)

When all else fails (911)

at the moment he thought he would die of

despair..... he cries out with all his being

(at the mountain top of his lungs)

'JEESSSSSUUUUUUUUSSSSSSSS! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! '
