Rainy Memories Poem by Patricia Gale

Rainy Memories

Rating: 5.0

Breezes gently blowing
Increasing with the passing time
The leaves from the maple tree
Begin to sway
Like dancing arms in the clouds

Coolness is carried in
Delivering a scent of freshness in the air
The smell of rain incomparable to all
Tiny falling streams of softness begins
Droplets sliding down the windows

A flash from a memory comes forth……

Darting out to the backyard with a basket in hand
running for the clothes line to gather linen blowing in the breeze
pinching the clothes pins and giving a few tugs
pulling and scrambling for the next piece
dashing back to the house

Remembering the scent of air dried linens
as my tired body would collapse into the bed
the smell was like no other
Ah the simple way life used to be
It was hard but yet had its rewards
